The wait is finally over: Dwight Howard announced after practice Thursday he will make his Wizards debut Friday against the Thunder.

Howard told the assembled media he is still dealing with pain from his buttocks muscle injury which kept him sidelined for the Wizards' first seven games of the season, but said his condition has improved compared to a few weeks ago when he had issues jumping. Howard said he still can't sit and when not playing he will have to lay on the floor near the bench.

At the team's practice Thursday, Howard was seen knocking down several three-pointers and having a conversation with head coach Scott Brooks, who announced Howard would start Friday's game. Howard was unsure if he will be on a minutes restriction during his season debut.

The Wizards are looking for their first home win and second win overall after a 1-6 start.
