Missed connection: In search of Nats fan Shayna

An often-overlooked benefit of postseason baseball is how impactful it can be on the next generation. It’s great for adults, but it’s legendary for young fans.

Even better if dad takes you to the game and buys you a hat. That’s exactly what happened for one small Washington Nationals fan named Shayna at Nats Park.

And then she lost the hat.

Now, one fan, Mark Thomas, has turned to the positive power of social media to find Shayna and her dad.

Here’s a screenshot of his post on the Facebook group called Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia Buy-Sell-Trade (No Rules):

“Hi All, I know this is probably a long shot, but I am looking to find a Dad who bought his Daughter a Washington Nationals World Series hat at Game 3 on Friday 10/25. I'll post pics, but on the inside brim of the hat is an inscription, ‘Shayna, Love, Dad 10/26/19,’” Thomas wrote.

“I'd like to get it back to the person somehow, and thought this group may be a good place that it could get shared and someone may see it.”

Obviously, if you know Shayna or her dad, this is the perfect opportunity to do a good deed. From a technical perspective, you may have to join the group to respond to the post, or reach out to Thomas directly through his profile.
