The Washington Redskins thoroughly tormented the New England Patriots in the first half. Too bad it was with backup players in the first preseason game of the year, but it still feels good to write that.

And on the opposite sidelines, it still brings out the best in Pats coach Bill Belichick, who is cantankerous on his best day with the media.

As the teams left the field at halftime, Belichick stopped briefly with the sideline reporter for the Patriots' preseason games, WBZ sports director Steve Burton. This is a contractually-obligated interview with the friendliest possible media, asking the lightest-hearted questions imaginable.

This is how Belichick responded:

By Belichick's math, the Redskins made him upset with his team for 29 minutes and 22 seconds in the first half. That's a good sign for any team, even if it is only preseason football.

The Redskins led at the half, 17-3.
