Dallas Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki's farewell tour hit another city on Wednesday night, as he played what will likely be his final game in Washington, D.C.

He did not start the game but entered off the bench with 2:34 remaining in the first quarter. As he stood up from the Mavs bench, fans inside the full Capital One Arena rose to their feet for a standing ovation:

The team was also ready for the moment, giving him a small tribute on the jumbotron and listing his accomplishments while fans clapped:

Nowitzki has not firmly committed to this being his final season, but he is likely in the final months of a Hall of Fame career. NBA fans, even in rival cities, have given him much-deserved appreciation.

Other cities will get more attention for how they honored him, but D.C.'s gesture was all class. That's fitting, considering the player that they're honoring.
