The NHL Department of Player Safety will not hand down any additional punishment for Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin, according to multiple media reports.

Malkin received a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct for a third period hit to the head of Capitals forward T.J. Oshie Thursday, but won't be suspended. It was deemed Malkin was "bracing for contact a fraction of a second after releasing the puck" and "didn't change angle or hit Oshie with his elbow or stick," per NHL Network Insider Chris Johnston.

The hit sent Oshie to the dressing room for a concussion test, but didn't prevent Oshie from scoring the game-winning goal in the Caps 2-1 win.

In his post game comments to the media, Oshie said he did not care if the NHL took any action against Malkin.

"Not my concern anymore," Oshie said. "We got the W. I don't really care what happens to him."
