Time may fly, but the memories still seem very fresh in the mind.

A year ago today, your Washington Capitals became Stanley Cup Champions. A year ago, Caps fans walked taller than they ever had before.

Watch NHL games now on fuboTV.

Here's a look back on the day and night that was June 7, 2018: The day the Caps became Champs.

First stop: The hype video. A reminder of what life was like before Game 5, what was a dark time in D.C. sports in the pre-Stanley Cup Era.

The build-up was immense with fans packing Capital One Arena and the surrounding streets for a massive D.C. watch party.

Outside the arena, 106.7 The Fan's Craig Hoffman was joined by D.C. native and ESPN's Clinton Yates to discuss what a championship would mean to the city.

In Las Vegas, Capitals fans were prime to "Get that Stanley."

As were Caps fans in D.C.

In Vegas, Alex Ovechkin scored his 15th goal of the Stanley Cup Playoffs with a wicked one-timer. And as the 3rd period began, the Caps were down 3-2, but D.C. could smell a very special night was cooking.

After Devante Smith-Pelly netted the equalizer, Lars Eller put the 2018 Capitals on the precipice of immortality and the sea of red in Vegas was ready to party.

And then all that was left was one final puck drop.

And finally, Ovechkin would lift the Stanley Cup!

Today a year ago was an emotional night for all, especially for Caps forward T.J. Oshie.

For Capitals fans around the country, the celebration was just beginning.

And the summer of drinking began! Both in Las Vegas

and in The Sports Junkies studios!

From now until forever, the Washington Capitals are Stanley Cup Champions!
