Washington Redskins players got a surprise on the morning of Christmas Eve: safety D.J. Swearinger was released by head coach Jay Gruden.

Swearinger was released after critical comments he made of defensive coordinator Greg Manusky following the Redskins defeat in Tennessee. 

Some of Swearinger's former teammates have taken to social media to give their support to the Redskins former team captain.
