Rick Snider

Rick Snider is an award-winning sports columnist who writes for 106.7 The Fan, The Washington Post Express and Warpath magazine. He has covered every local pro and college team, plus high school sports and horse racing, since 1978. The biggest story ever – "No doubt Len Bias' death, but being the frontrunner on the Redskins sale in 1999 gave me a national reputation."

Sports wasn't enough for Snider, though. The Washington native, whose family traces back to the city's 1810 census and includes Lincoln assassin John Wilkes Booth as well as five presidents, became a licensed Washington tour guide in 2010.

His blog "Monumental Thoughts" was named a top-five read by the Huffington Post. Snider also covers the wine industry in SouthernMarylandWine.com, and recently finished his ninth book and first in fiction called, "An Angel Among Us."

"Some people claim I write fiction anyway," Snider joked.

After more than 17,000 stories, Snider has one goal left – to cover the Nationals in the World Series. "Baseball has always been my favorite sport," he said, "but I'd forgotten how much until the Nats arrived. I'd love to see a World Series here."
