The Washington Capitals claimed forward Dmitrij Jaskin off waivers, general manager Brian MacLellan announced Tuesday.

Jaskin, a 25-year-old right winger, tallied 6 goals and 11 assists in 76 games last season for the St. Louis Blues and his 207 hits were good enough for 18th in the league. Jaskin has recorded 61 points in 266 career games.

MacLellan said a possible suspension for Tom Wilson may have influenced the team's decision.

The Capitals also announced defenseman Aaron Ness cleared waivers and was assigned to Hershey.
