What do all great sports teams need? A great beer, of course!

The Washington Capitals and Devils Backbone Brewing Company are introducing the Capit-Ale India Pale Ale. Described as "an easy drinking, hoppy brew," 16 oz. cans of Capit-Ale will be available to purchase at Capital One Arena through the conclusion of the 2019-20 NHL season, and will also be available on draft at select retail locations in Virginia, Maryland, and D.C.

“At Devils Backbone we’re all about slowing down and enjoying the finer things in life,” Devils Backbone COO Hayes Humphreys said in a release. “Few things are finer than enjoying a Caps victory with friends, which is why we’re so excited to partner with the Washington Capitals on Capit-Ale. We’re confident that world class beer and world class hockey will make an excellent pairing for the upcoming season.”

In fact, Caps fans can help decide what Capit-Ale looks like. From now until Oct. 18, fans are invited to submit original artwork for a can design that will be available at Capital One Arena in January 2020. The winning artist will receive tickets to a Capitals game, a framed version of their art autographed by Caps players, and have their piece hung in the Capital One Arena Devils Backbone bar.

The initial can design is based on the Caps mural at L'Enfant Plaza designed by D.C.-based artists BroCoLoco.

Based in central, Devils Backbone has created beers for several D.C. teams, including the Earned Run Ale for the Nationals and #ATTR for the Redskins. And now, Caps fans have a great beer to sip (or chug) when they rock the red this season.
