Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final is now an elimination game, with the Capitals leading the Vegas Golden Knights 2-1 in the series.

That has some fans wondering how Monumental Sports will handle the transition between Thursday's Mystics-Lynx game at Capital One Arena, and the Caps viewing party thereafter.

The Mystics game, originally scheduled for 7 p.m., has already been rescheduled for earlier in the day, at 4 p.m. Capitals-Knights Game 5 is scheduled for 8 p.m. in Las Vegas.

Will the arena be cleared out after the Mystics game?

Or, can fans already in the arena - some of whom paid upwards of $1,000 for tickets in anticipation of securing a viewing party seat - remain in their seats for the second event? Two previous Stanley Cup viewing parties at Capital One Arena, for Games 1 and 2, charged no admission.

Here's what the Mystics had to say in first announcing their rescheduled game last Friday:

The Washington Mystics and the Minnesota Lynx will play on Thursday, June 7 at 4:00 pm at Capital One Arena. The game was previously scheduled for 7:00 pm. Following the Mystics game, fans are invited to stay at Capital One Arena to watch the Washington Capitals versus Vegas Golden Knights in game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals at 8 p.m.

Mystics Fans who plan on attending the game against the Minnesota Lynx on June 7 can simply present their ticket at the gate for entry. All fans are encouraged to stay after the game and cheer on the Capitals.

If fans are unable to attend the game at its new time, please email, and one of our ticket sales representatives will be able to assist with ticket exchange for any of our remaining regular season home games.

Where it gets tricky is, if fans attending the Mystics game must re-enter, they're likely to compete with throngs of Caps fan waiting outside the arena for entry.

A request to Monumental Sports for clarity on the situation has not been returned.
