Chris Russell is betting on the Redskins in 2019

Coming from the guy who once bet he'd walk from D.C. to Ashburn if the Redskins went 5-11, Chris Russell of 106.7 The Fan has made a new Redskins wager for the 2019 season.

That bet kept Russell sweating well into December, with the Redskins not earning their sixth win until Week 15 of the 2017 season. He had become so panicked about losing, he preemptively began to welch on the bet, clarifying, with no record of this on file, that he'd committed to the walk only if they finished 5-11, not five wins or fewer.

Hope springs eternal for the Redskins. A new quarterback in Dwayne Haskins and an additional first-round pick in Montez Sweat may be enough to excite the fanbase, but it didn't tip the scales in Washington's favor on ESPN's "Football Power Index," which projects the Redskins to win 6.2 games in 2019.

The Redskins also ranked 28th in ESPN's power rankings and were given a 10 percent chance of making the playoffs.

Russell vehemently disagrees with this outlook, believing the Redskins are more of a seven- to eight-win team, maybe even better.

Enter Russell's bet for 2019 – which he had to be peer pressured into and fought every step of the way, because his two biggest allergies are commercial breaks and fun.

While this isn't nearly as sexy as a death-defying January march to Ashburn, a bald Russell would make for an enjoyable month of shame and humiliation.
