Juan Soto quickly assuaged any fan concerns that his sprained ankle may turn into a lingering injury.

The Nationals slugger is back in the lineup Tuesday night against the Reds, two days after spraining his ankle in Sunday's win over the Mets.

Soto turned his ankle rounding third in the top of the seventh, after receiving a late stop sign from third base coach Bob Henley on Asdrubal Cabrera's two-run double.

Soto, who was tagged out while hopping back to third, was lifted from the game in between half-innings and taken to get checked out further. X-rays came back negative and, after the game, Nationals manager Dave Martinez said Soto suffered a "mild sprain" and would be day-to-day.

Soto believed by Monday he had recovered enough to return to the lineup for the series-opener against Cincinnati. Martinez informed Soto he would reserve him for pinch-hit scenarios, although Soto was never used in the 7-6 Nationals win.

Soto is batting fourth in Tuesday's matchup against the Reds.
