No one cuts wrestling promos on sports-talk radio quite like Chris Russell.

But what took place during his opening segment on Tuesday – whatever it is that was – seemed far closer to a mental breakdown.

The Nationals had lost to the Rays 1-0 earlier in the day, culminating with Tampa closer Sergio Romo taunting Michael A. Taylor after the final pitch, causing a benches-clearing scenario. The Nats now get a much-needed day of rest before heading back home to face the Phillies on Thursday.

But something about the way Nats manager Dave Martinez excused his club for being tired – "the boys were tired" will be a common refrain in the mental episode you're about to hear – really seemed to rub Russell the wrong way.

(For what it's worth, Martinez said the Nats have had "a rough go of it with their schedule," and "a little break will do the boys right.")

"You're gonna have two- and three-week periods where you're just not going to do well. I got it. I got it all. I got every excuse. The boys are tired," Russell began his descent into madness. "I'VE BEEN TIRED FOR THE LAST 18 YEARS! I HAVEN'T SLEPT MORE THAN FOUR HOURS IN A NIGHT IN FOREVER, DAVEY MARTINEZ!"

"Don't send this tape over to Nationals Park. They probably won't like this."

Without further ado, enjoy the ramblings of a madman who's come unhinged. The crazy really kicks in around the 4-minute mark.
