The Nationals will recall right-handed starter Erick Fedde from Triple-A Syracuse to start in the series finale against the Padres, GM Mike Rizzo tells The Sports Junkies.

"We haven't announced it yet, but he's en route last night to pitch," Rizzo said during his weekly appearance, sponsored by Burke & Herbert Bank. "And if it all goes according to plan travel-wise, he's going to pitch today at 4 o'clock against the Padres, yes."

Because of Saturday's doubleheader against the Dodgers, everyone in Washington's rotation is on short rest. The Nats need a starter.

At Syracuse in 2018, Fedde has gone 1-1 with a 4.35 ERA and 42 strikeouts in eight starts.

The Class-AAA Chiefs have been in Buffalo this week.
