The Nationals sure could use some starting pitching depth at this point in the season. With the trade deadline fast approaching, the MLB rumor mill is spinning on all cylinders, and on Tuesday it landed Reds starter Matt Harvey in Washington, potentially.

The 29-year-old right-handed pitcher has had his share of struggles since undergoing thoracic outlet decompression surgery in 2016. Offered a fresh start in Cincinnati (after getting DFA'd by the Mets), Harvey is 4-3 with a 3.86 ERA in 10 starts this season for the Reds. Not too bad.

But Matt Harvey on the Nationals? The same Matt Harvey whose career tailspin the Nationals watched firsthand?

Raisel Iglesias on the other hand, the hard-throwing righty closer for the Reds? Every contending team should be interested in him, Nats included.

Nationals GM Mike Rizzo was asked to confirm Heyman's report of his club's interest in Harvey during his weekly appearance with The Sports Junkies, sponsored by Burke & Herbert Bank.

Jason Bishop: Mike, I think it was Jon Heyman who reported that you guys have talked to the Reds about Matt Harvey and Iglesias.

Rizzo: Yeah, Jon Heyman was inaccurate.

Bishop: He was inaccurate?

Rizzo: Yes.

Bishop: Did not talk to the Reds about Matt Harvey?

Rizzo: No. No we did not.

Bishop: I didn't think that the Matt Harvey thing was the type of player that you would want.

Rizzo: Nope. We did not talk to the Reds about Matt Harvey.

Well, there 'ya go.

Iglesias on the other hand...
