For the first time since 2015, the Redskins won't be playing on Thanksgiving Day, which means Chad Dukes can have his favorite holiday back.

"What is the greatest day of the year?" Dukes asked his producer on 106.7 The Fan on Thursday.

"Christmas," guessed his producer.

"That's a good guess," Dukes replied. "So for the past three years, maybe four, the Washington Redskins have been playing on Thanksgiving Day. It has ruined Thanksgiving Day for me."

"I don't have the record in front of me. I don't know if they won one of those games," he said. "Quite frankly, I don't care. For every Robert Griffin III running rampant over the Dallas Cowboys, there's brutal eviscerations at the hands of fill-in-the-blank that just take my favorite day of the year and cram it up their cram hole."

The Redskins are 3-8 in Thanksgiving games and, after last year's miserable 31-23 loss, they're 1-8 against the Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day. In case you forgot how last year's contest went, Washington was down two scores with under two minutes to play.

The Redskins have ruined exactly two Thanksgivings in recent memory. Here's how they've fared the past three holidays:

2018: Lost to the Cowboys 31-23

2017: Beat the Giants 20-10

2016: Lost to the Cowboys 31-26

"I can't tell ya," Dukes continued. "This is not the Cowboys, this is not the Lions. The tradition is not to have the Washington Redskins on Thanksgiving Day and for that I am thankful.

"That ends this year. The schedule comes out... there will be no Redskins playing the Cowboys or the Lions."
