Redskins diehard just wants to see them win before she dies

Bless you, Shirl in Manassas.

This sweet, sweet lady has been a Redskins diehard for the last 50 years. She calls Redskins Park weekly – because she doesn't do social media – to ask for one of two things of Dan Snyder: "Fire Bruce Allen; or please, Dear God, sell the team."

But after Friday's news that Bruce Allen is not only remaining as team president, but being promoted, Shirl's upping her dosage.

"I've been a fan for over 50 years – a diehard, a diehard – as well as my entire family," said Shirl, calling into 106.7 The Fan's Chad Dukes vs. The World. "We're done. I'm not burning my jerseys, but I'm certainly not spending any more money on the Redskins until Dan Snyder is no longer the owner. So now, I'm gonna start calling him on a daily basis and harassing him to do something intelligent."

"Bruce Allen is not the problem in and of itself," she said. "It's Dan Snyder. He's got to sell the team. That's when we can get some respect back."

Then Shirl said something that just makes your heart wrench: "I would like to have one more winning season before I leave this earth."

"Since 1972. I was 12 years old," she said. "My very first Super Bowl was when we were in California and Miami beat us. My family has been diehards ever since. We've raised three generations of Redskins fans, but now they're all peeling off because of the debacle that's going on under Dan Snyder's ownership. So, if I ever hit the lottery, I'm gonna make an offer to buy 'em and boot all their asses out."
