The Redskins have hired former Browns defensive coordinator Ray Horton as defensive backs coach, Craig Hoffman confirmed for 106.7 The Fan.

Horton, 58, has been out of football the past two seasons since being fired by the Browns after the 2016 season. He has also coordinated defenses for the Titans (2014-15), Cardinals (2011-12) and in a previous stop with the Browns in 2013.

106.7 The Fan's Grant Paulsen was first to report the Redskins' offer to Horton.

Horton replaces Torrian Gray, who served as Washington's defensive backs coach for two seasons (2017-18) before being let go after the 2018 season. Gray has since landed on his feet, in the same role for the Florida Gators.
