The Redskins selected Junior Louisville offensive tackle Geron Christian with their third-round pick, acquired in a draft-day trade from the 49ers.

Christian, listed at 6-foot-5, 298 pounds, ran a 5.33 40-yard dash and has a chance to become an NFL starter, according to's metrics.

Christian is Washington's second selection on the night and third in the draft so far. The Redskins didn't initially own a third-round pick, but picked up 74th overall selection -- which they used to draft Christian -- in a trade with San Francisco earlier Friday.

The Redskins also drafted LSU running back Derrius Guice with 59th overall, 15 spots back from where they were originally slated to pick in the second round. They gave up their fifth-round pick (142 overall) in the trade.

The Redskins drafted Alabama defensive lineman Da'Ron Payne with the 13th overall selection in the first round.
