EB and Cakes pick Redskins to top Bears

The Washington Redskins host the Chicago Bears in about as close to a "must-win" game as a Week 3 matchup can be.

Head coach Jay Gruden has been feeling the burn of the hot seat since before the season began and after a pair of lackluster performances (especially in the second half of Week 1) that hasn't changed. The offense has been inconsistent at times, but the real story has been the struggles of a defense that was tipped to be one of the top units in the NFC during the preseason.

Despite all of that and factoring in the Redskins' abysmal record in primetime games, Eric Bickel and John "Cakes" Auville are picking the 5.5-point, home underdog.

"I'll be stupid enough and predict the Skins win," EB of The Sports Junkies said. "Like a 21-20 something. A nail-bitter."

Cakes also prefaced his prediction by acknowledging it may look foolish come Tuesday.

"This is officially dumb," Auville said. "But because they're so desperate, and I would say (because) they're at home, but there is no home-field advantage, the Skins are somehow going to eke out a win, 24-17. They definitely score a defensive touchdown because (Bears QB Mitch) Trubisky will turn the ball over."

This news left Bickel crushed: "You just jinxed them I wanted to be the only guy picking them," Bickel said. "I felt good about my pick until now. Cakes is the ultimate mush."

But Auville was unmoved, "I'll stick to my guns, the Bears stink. I think Trubisky stinks and even though he's facing a much softer defense than he's seen in the first two weeks, I don't know if he'll be able to capitalize on it."

JP Flaim and Jason Bishop both took the Bears, Flaim saying 24-13 and Bishop 24-17.
