The Wizards applied for a Disabled Player Exception in respect to injured point guard John Wall, according to Sam Vecenie of The Athletic.

If granted, the exception would give the Wizards an additional $9.258 million, the value of the the full non-taxpayer mid-level exception, to either sign a player, trade for one, or make a waiver claim.

As The Athletic's Fred Katz notes, the decision to apply for the DPE implies the Wizards think Wall could potentially be ruled out for the entire 2019-20 season.

Wall ruptured his Achilles in February while recovering from heel surgery, and was expected to miss at least 12 months. Washington has already made moves in anticipatin of not having Wall for the majority of the season, signing point guards Ish Smith and Isaiah Thomas Monday.
